Stock shapes for machining and fabrication
Engineering Plastic Sheets and Rods
Select the material, product form and dimensions for your project. We will confirm the grade, tolerance, quantity, documentation and delivery requirements before production.
Material range
Compare sheets and rods by polymer family
Start with the operating environment, then confirm the resin grade and stock shape. Property data varies by grade, filler, color and manufacturing method, so the material datasheet should be reviewed before final selection.
PEEKPEEK Sheet and Rod
Selected where heat, chemical exposure, wear and dimensional control need to be considered together. Filled grades may change stiffness, friction and machining behavior.
PEIPEI Sheet and Rod
Amber PEI stock shapes are commonly considered for heat-resistant structural and electrical parts. Confirm the grade, color, thickness or diameter with the inquiry.
PPSReinforced PPS Sheet and Rod
PPS is considered for chemical resistance, low moisture uptake and dimensional stability. The pictured black material is reinforced; filler type and content must be confirmed.
PPSUPPSU Sheet and Rod
PPSU stock shapes are often reviewed for impact, heat and hydrolysis requirements. Suitability for repeated steam or hot-water exposure depends on the selected grade.
PIPolyimide Sheet and Rod
PI stock shapes are considered for high-temperature, electrical and low-creep applications. Verify the resin system and production method because PI grades differ widely.
PAIPAI Sheet and Rod
PAI is evaluated for strength, stiffness and wear at elevated temperature. Machining sequence and any post-curing requirement should be matched to the grade.
PESPES / PESU Sheet and Rod
Polyethersulfone stock shapes are considered for heat, hydrolysis and electrical requirements. Confirm whether the requested specification uses the PES or PESU designation.
POMPOM Sheet and Rod
POM is widely considered for gears, guides, rollers and other machined parts that need stiffness, low friction and stable dimensions. Copolymer and homopolymer grades differ.
PCPolycarbonate Sheet
Clear PC sheet is commonly selected when transparency and impact performance are priorities. Confirm UV grade, surface protection, thickness and fabrication method.
PMMAPMMA Acrylic Sheet
PMMA sheet is considered for optical clarity, displays, covers and fabricated components. Color, surface finish and outdoor exposure requirements should be specified.
ABSABS Sheet and Rod
ABS stock shapes provide a practical option for prototypes, fixtures, housings and fabricated parts. Confirm the resin grade, color and service environment.
Images show representative stock shapes. Supply, grade, color and dimensions are confirmed for each inquiry.
Product forms
Specify the shape that fits your process
The best starting size reduces machining time and material waste. Include the final part envelope, allowance for finishing and required grain or extrusion direction when it matters.
Sheet and plate
For machined plates, wear pads, insulation parts, guards and fabricated components. State thickness, width, length and surface requirements.
Solid rod
For turned parts, bushings, rollers, rings and prototypes. State diameter, cut length and any allowance needed for finish machining.
Tube
For sleeves, seals, valve parts and ring-shaped components where starting from tube may reduce waste. State OD, ID and length.
Block and cut blank
For low-volume machining and irregular part envelopes. Send a drawing so the blank size, cutting allowance and quantity can be reviewed.
Selection guide
Use service conditions to narrow the material choice
This table is a starting point, not a material approval. Final selection should use the grade datasheet, part geometry, load, temperature, chemical exposure, regulatory needs and expected service life.
| Material family | Common selection drivers | Example part types | Confirm before order |
|---|---|---|---|
| PEEK | Heat, chemicals, wear and dimensional performance | Seals, insulators, structural and fluid-handling parts | Grade, filler, color, temperature and chemical media |
| PEI | Heat resistance, stiffness and electrical insulation | Electrical, structural and machined housing components | Grade, dimensions, transparency and compliance needs |
| PPS | Chemical resistance, low moisture uptake and stability | Pump, electrical, process and wear components | Filler type, filler content, temperature and machining |
| PPSU / PESU | Heat, impact and hydrolysis performance | Fluid-handling, electrical and repeated-cleaning parts | Exact polymer, grade, sterilization or cleaning cycle |
| PI / PAI | High-temperature strength, creep, wear or insulation | Bearings, seals, fixtures and electrical components | Resin system, production method and post-treatment |
| POM | Low friction, stiffness and machinability | Gears, guides, rollers, bushings and fixtures | Copolymer or homopolymer, color and chemical exposure |
| PC / PMMA / ABS | Transparency, impact, fabrication or prototype economy | Guards, covers, displays, housings and prototypes | Optical needs, UV exposure, color and surface finish |
From stock shape to finished part
A clear path from specification to shipment
Polynectra can review stock-shape supply, cut blanks and machined components as separate or combined requirements. The order scope is defined before production starts.
Review the application
Share the polymer, grade, product form, dimensions, quantity, service conditions and destination country.
Confirm material and size
Available grade, color, stock size, machining allowance and documentation are checked against the request.
Cut or machine
Order stock shapes, prepared blanks or finished parts made from a 2D drawing or 3D model.
Inspect and pack
Inspection scope, part identification, supporting records and protective packing are agreed for the order.
Quality and documentation
Define the inspection record with the order
Documentation requirements should be stated during quotation. Availability depends on the material source, selected grade, processing route and agreed inspection plan.
Material and batch records
- Material designation and grade review
- Supplier COA or material certificate when available
- Batch or lot identification when required
- Color and product-form confirmation
Inspection and shipment records
- Dimensions and tolerances defined from the drawing
- Inspection report based on the agreed scope
- Third-party testing support when requested
- Packing list and export documents for the shipment
Testing is not described as in-house unless the equipment and method have been confirmed. Ask for the document list needed by your quality team.
Export packing and delivery
Protect stock shapes through international transport
Sheets, rods and machined parts need different protection. Packing is selected around surface condition, product length, weight, quantity and transport method. Delivery timing and shipping terms are confirmed with the quotation.

Technical inquiry
Request sheet and rod availability
Send the material, product form, dimensions and quantity. Include the drawing and service conditions when the inquiry is for a finished part.
Include these details for a useful quotation
A complete request helps us check the material route, starting size, processing scope and documents without unnecessary follow-up.
